1949 Walter Fitzmaurice, North Reading, MA, received the French Legion of Honor award on July 8 in Boston Harbor during the Tall Ships Festival for his service during World War II. This award is the highest honor to receive from the French Government.

The Princeton Review named Saint Michael’s one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education, in its new 2010 edition The Best 371 Colleges. Only about 15 percent of America’s 2,500 four-year colleges are profiled in the book.
